Christmas 2012 - DONE

This is it. I'm finally done with Christmas past. I finished these place mats last night for delivery tomorrow.

For some reason or another Gifts fro B are always being finished at the last minute.  We have been know to celebrate Christmas and our Birthdays as late as June due to our tardiness. At least she is as bad as I am.

This is the pattern I used for the place mats. You use 4 fat quarters and backing. They are really fun to make.  I used this same fabric for another set and the mats look completely different due to fabric placement.

This is a shot of the back of one of the mats.  I used the same fabric for each. Another plus is that they are reversible. Using the Black background Christmas fabric really changes the whole tone for entertaining.

Please take note of the flowers. They are summer flowers still hanging in there in NJ in January. I know it's been mild but not that mild.

This week I also got started on my D9P QAL that is being propelled by Freda who you can find here http://imperamagna.blogspot.com/2013/01/d9p-qal-flickr-group.html

these are a very addictive block to whip up. The block is rather big 13 inches square if you are using charms or 5 inch squares as your starting  point, so the sense of accomplishment is awesome. The pictures are of just 6 blocks.  Each block is comprised of 4 of the squares and the cornerstones and sashing.  made up All in one shot.

At that size you can commit to one a day and have a 60 x 72 top without borders in a month.  So far I have not been able to only do one at a sitting.

Don't forget that this week is the beginning of the Dare To Be Dresden Blog Hop, see the button.  I will be posting my very first ever attempt at The Dresden on Thursday.

  1. What cool placemats! They'll be great come Christmas this year... so you can say you're starting early!

The D9P blocks are addictive... I've just started another using 4" fabric squares. Only have to do 16 blocks since this will be a baby quilt. :)

Your D9P blocks are looking good! WTG!

  2. Great placements, bright and fun. Your D9P blocks look fresh, and glad to hear that they are quick and easy to sew.
Are you using a charm pack for these?
