H2H Charity Quilt Challenge 2018 Wrap Up

It looks like the 2018 H2H Challenge has been a rousing success. I am posting my offerings for this event for Sunday's linky party over at Sarah's confessions of a fabric addict  Full details of this Challenge can be found by clicking on the link.

She is the energizer bunny for this annual event. This year she found 3 organizations for us to make quilts for.  If these organizations didn't work for any of us then a group of our choosing was fine.

The links  below will take you to my original postings where I have some detail on the background of these quilts.

This quilt went to Quilty Hugs for happy Chemo in Utah

This quilt top went to Victoria's Quilts in Ontario, Canada

This quilt went to Little Lambs Foundation for Kids, also in Utah

Thanks Sarah for all you do to help those in need.

Current Projects

I've been a very busy gal the last few weeks and figured I better get a post done before I forgot to document the finishes.

I do have several upcoming hops that I have been working toward so I can't post about them "yet" but in between hop projects I have managed to keep working away on my pieces for the #scrapvortex100dayproject

This is a photo of my first medium scale consolidation,
had to do that so I  could use my design wall for another project that had a real dead line.

Once the wall freed up  I started on another batch of scraps.

This is the project that I needed my wall for.  It is for a WWII Veteran affiliated with the church where the CFMQG meets monthly.

Follow the link for the pattern Have Faith Quilt by Jamie Elfert and its tutorial. She generously provided it for the H2H2018 Challenge.

This will be turned in on Monday, at my next guild meeting.

Yesterday I received a request from  TQPM Small Kennel Quilt Team requesting 18 x 12 quilts for the kennel in Hawaii assisting with the animals affected by the volcano.  If you are interested in helping go to the link for more information.

Was able to knock out 5 and get them mailed out today.

I'll be back on the 22nd with my contribution for the Wish Upon A Star Blog Hop. hope to see you then.

My Day for the 30 Blocks in 30 Days Blog Hop

Yahoo it's finally here, my day to participate in Carla's 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days Blog Hop.  If you follow the link you will find tutorials for all of the blocks that are being presented in this Hop.

Carla put out an invitation to the participants to pick a block from her December sew along. This is my quilt from the sew along where I used all 30 blocks.

I chose December 27's block, Broken Strips. In this photo it's the gold block, bottom row, second block from the left.

When I chose the block I had no real purpose, therefore no clear goal.  Then Sarah over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict posted the organizations that would be participating in Hands to Help Charity Quilt Challenge 2018 and I knew a quilt using this block was coming.

You will notice that the pictures of my quilt are only of a quilt top.   For the organization that this quilt will be going to, Victoria's Quilts - Canada the contributions were requested to be
"tops only"  This request is intended to keep shipping costs down.

This picture was taken indoors due to weather.  It does nothing for the fabrics.
I made the blocks and put the top together last month while at my first quilt retreat.  Should have taken the pictures there.  It was a beautiful location on a lake.  Hidesight is as they say 20/20

The out doors in the front of my house was just a tad windy and a bit shady.

Victoria's Quilts gets quilts out to people living with cancer.  I did my blocks in bright greens with blues and a slightly busy background fabric to keep it joyful and happy.

I tried taking pictures in the back of the house and the light was much better.

The fabric is showing up true to actual.  I just don't have a nice flat space to use in the back of the house but I am thankful the breeze let up.

I really enjoyed working with this block and making it my own with color choices.

Thank you Carla for coming up with this different blog hop concept, it has been fun participating and fun to follow.  The creativity found in these posts is as always amazing.  Here is a list of the participants for the entire Hop.  Do yourself a favor and check them all out.

30 blocks in 30 days quilt along and bloghop and #scrapvortex100dayproject

So if you haven't heard there is a blog hop going on right now.  Brought to you by  Carla over at creatin' in the sticks

It is based on her December 2017 blog posts where she posted one simple 10 1/2 inch block per day for 30 days for her 30 blocks in 30 days quilt along.

Each day in April will highlight the use of each block from December in this hop. For the hop I will be posting my use of block #27.  And yes, I will be posting it on the 27th.

I made all of the blocks in the quilt along and put them together into this quilt.

My block for the hop is the bottom almost left hand corner of the top picture.  Its the gold
and white block. Broken Stripes.

This quilt will be going to one of the organizations from this years Hands 2 Help Charity Quilt Challenge 2018 ( see the button ). It measures in at 50 x 60.

At the bottom of this post I am listing all of the participants for the Hop.  Start checking them out, there are some awesome ideas popping up.

I have decided to participate in the IG 100 day project.  I've hooked up with #scrapvortex100dayproject   It is being coordinated by @wendyfranczak  using the scrapvortex pattern from Amanda Jean over at Crazy mom Quilts  The link takes you to her posting regarding this project and the links to her original tutorials.

                                                                          This is day 1

This is day 3

I'm thinking at about a half hour per day = 50 hours which should give me a pretty decent size top at the end of 100 days.   I know I'll have days where I put in more time and days where I won't be near a sewing machine so I am keeping track of my daily time so I don't get totally off track.

When Amanda Jean first posted her Scrap Vortex quilt along back in June 2015 I had great visions of finishing a top but got caught up in other things along the way and instead of a finished quilt I ended up with very pretty placemats.  I'm hoping to do better this time.

As promised here is the list for the 30 Block Hop
