Quilt Qwazy Queens blog hop.

So have you been just laughing your butt off following this ever so fun hop? I view it as the very lite side of quilting. I open them first thing in the morning and enjoy with my coffee, great way to start the day.  So thanks so much Joan for coming up with this hop for us to follow/participate in. They say timing is everything and boy did we need something to laugh about this week.

Well once I signed up for this hop my first idea of something Qwazy that I have quilted goes all the way back to a blog hop many of us participated in back in February of 2013  Here are 2 of the pictures from that post.

I made this into a pillow for our mom when she went to an assisted living facility. The pattern is by Amy Bradley.

I know the picture is blurry but it shows just how accurate the pillow is in capturing sissie and me.  After our mom passed we realized as we were cleaning out her room that the pillow had gone missing.  I hope it went to one of her buddies and that one of them is still enjoying it.

Then I realized that I don't really make fun stuff on my own.  Where I mostly get my quilting chuckles is in laughing at my mistakes such as

Not paying attention and putting the batting on the outside and the backing on the inside of this pouch.  I originally thought that this was the only one I screwed up of the 50 I made.  I recently ran into one of the recipients and she had hers out and I realized hers also had the batting on the outside. When I apologized and offered to make her a new one she laughed and told me she thought I did it on purpose to give it a winter feel. Some people are just so polite.

While doing another project I used the stabilizer incorrectly and had the sticky side down  and it caught the bobbin cover and dragged it under the needle and I tried to sew through it for several stitches before I realized what the horrible noise coming from the machine was. Amazing that I got that many stitches done before the needle broke.

Ok so then I got really serious about what I could do specifically for this hop to make you'll smile and I remembered that when I first got my embroidery machine I tried all sorts of things that I saw on you tube.  This go round I could google something specific. The topic of my search was things to embroider on Toilet Paper . It was absolutely amazing how many ideas are out there for this topic.

This was my favorite.

I did it in 2 different color ways

It is an amazingly easy thing to do. I think that the stitch out time was 4 minutes. You can use any embroidery design that fits a square of the type of toilet paper you have.  I am a Charmin user but many of the tutorials I read suggested using the very cheap stuff.     The cool part is that you can rip off the embroidered piece with a few extra squares on either end and store them flat for reuse at a later date by just rewinding on a new roll if you used a seasonal pattern or an event to celebrate. (or had an emergency need)

I have found that you can hide small gifts inside

I will be giving one of these away to someone who comments and who has a mailing address in the US . Just leave as part of your comment which one you would prefer. I understand that this could be a very valuable gift this week with all of the empty shelves in the stores.

Now thanks again to Joan of Moose Stash Quilting for coordinating this fun time for one and all and here for your convenience is a full list of participants for you to smile your way through.

  2. What a great project! I'm still laughing! After waiting in a long line only to find an empty shelf where TP once was, I can appreciate this little roll's value. LOL Both your color choices are great, but I like the darker purple the best. You have made my day!

  6. When an acquaintance passed, I found in her embroidery stuff a couple of embroidery designs stitched on several layers of toilet paper. I supposed she was just using it to test the stitch out of the design. I can now see they could be used to decorate extra rolls.

  7. Oh, my goodness! I was very much enjoying your entire post and then you embroidered on toilet paper! Holy Cow! I thought, no, it has to be batting cut like TP. Nope. You will be impressing guests for a long time with that embroidery. Makes me smile just thinking about it. Personally, I like the darker purple better. Both are cool. Thanks for sharing everything!

  8. Very nice idea to reuse the beautiful stitchery on a new roll to keep it looking fresh. The darker color is my favorite of the two...even though both are gorgeous. (on a side note...you should recreate that little applique' of you and your sister)...:) smiles

  10. You sure know how to make us all feel like it's ok to laugh, when things don't go right. I for one have managed to make all the mistakes you have shown and I wear that badge proudly! LOL!! Some days if you don't laugh you cry, or threaten someone with a seam ripper! hahahaha I just pulled out that "Biased" pattern myself. You might just find it on one of my 365 silly holidays, hint hint. Oh the good ole days with Madame Samm! I love your TP embroidery and my mind is spinning thinking about some kind of silly saying for today's situation! LOL Thanks for joining us and making us laugh!

  16. haha...the pillow is such fun! I imagine it brought many smiles from your mom whenever she looked at it. Now I’m sure it brings smiles for its new owner whomever that may be. Sometimes the sewing faux paws are not so funny at the time but we love to laugh about them later for sure. Your embroidered toilet paper designs are too funny and so pretty! The power of suggestion is so strong. I’ll bet more people than not were wondering why they were desperately hoarding toilet paper...but would worry about that later on...just make sure they got as much as they could now! Hahaha. Thanks for the laughs!

  17. your Amy Bradley project is so cute, am so happy you had a picture of it. 2013 was the year I started blogging and it just never occurred to me that blog hops went back that far.. duh on me!!! Loved the stories tho of mistakes, that was fun and so engaging. We all make mistakes and either just move on or leave em be. I've certainly had my share also. Love the TP.. I knew you could embroider on it, but I have never really tried it myself.

  18. You did a great job with the Sister pillow! Such a wonderful gift for mom! I love your tp design, such a cute idea. I love the darker of the two. Thanks for sharing!

  19. Now I have to say that is sooooo funny....I need to make this toilet cover for my sons...they would get a hoot out of it.

  20. Ok, now that toilet paper is hysterical!! And so timely. I always wonder about the person who was sitting around one day who said “I think I’ll embroider something on toilet paper!”. Very clever and a little bit crazy (but in a fun way). I think I like the darker one the best, but both are amazing. Thanks for sharing.

  22. Those are so cute! I wish I had an embroidery machine. I like to laugh at my mistakes also. Like putting the backing on my Christmas mug rugs right side in. I like both so either one is good if I win. Thank you!

  25. Hi Selina! Oh my, I can only imagine the noise the bobbin cover made trying to go under the pressor foot. WOW! I also got a chuckle over your inside-out pouch. I am 100% certain that I have done that. I sure hope you don't regret embroidering those squares of TP! Just kidding - they look fabulous and what a clever idea. Thanks so much for sharing your projects for a smile. Stay healthy and safe. ~smile~ Roseanne

  33. I had been seeing people embroider on TP for a while now. Those are very cute. Just think of all those TP hoarders, hopefully they were not just hoarding, they were making embroidered TP gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, baby, and Christmas gifts.

  34. You're certainly Qwazy! Embroidering on toilet paper is the height of Qwazy. lol We just have to laugh at all those Qwazy things we do when we do it wrong - you made me feel right at home hearing about those Qwazy boo-boos.
