I'm Back - Almost

I am very happy to report that my surgery was a whopping success.  My knee was replaced on Thursday at around lunch time and I was walking the hospital halls by 7 PM.  Had my first PT at 10 AM on Friday and was on my way home by noon.  Absolutely amazing. Was able to walk around the block on Saturday.

I've been walking around in pain for a couple of years, it's just unbelievable the difference the surgery has made. Yes I do have the pain of the surgery healing but that's nothing compared to the original pain.  I am actually going for daily walks again.  OK, enough of that.

Thank you all for your prayers and support.

While in recovery mode I haven't been able to focus on anything for any length of time and until yesterday I was afraid to touch my rotary cutter.

What I have been able to do are these little crocheted facial scrubbies.  They take about 10 minutes to make.  And there are no sharp instruments to loose track of or stick myself with.

I am making them for a fund raiser for the local Angel Snug Chapter.

Just before surgery I knocked out a few other items that I wanted finished before surgery since I didn't know how long it would be before I'd be able to use my machine again.

This baby quilt went back to NJ for a friends first grandchild.

This was just the most fun QAL . The Cross Cut Block  QAL with all the directions were brought to us by Debbie over at A Quilters Table

IG links are #crosscutblocks  and #crosscutquiltalong
Check them out, you won't be disapointed.

And then I participated in another postcard swap. Again, coordinated by Sheila over at Sheilas Quilt World
I made  this flip flop card for my partner in Australia. Loved it so much that I made 2 more, one for Sheila as a thank you for coordinating these great swaps and one for a friend who collects post cards.

Ok, I started this post on Saturday, it's now Tuesday morning.  It appears that my ability to focus is still not where it needs to be.  I guess I won't try driving for a few more days. ;-}

Summer here in the US is just about done,  everyone here please have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend.

  1. Happy to hear the surgery went well and that you are feeling so well, but take it easy. Yeah, no sharp objects for a while.

  2. What you describe is exactly my mother's reaction to getting her knee replaced. Stay on top of your PT and you should be feeling better and younger (so Mom said) in no time. That postcard is darling. I may need to make one for a friend who is missing her beachy home state.

  6. Great you are getting on so well with your new knee. My knee will be redone (first implant became infected...I've been with a spacer for the last few months)on the 21st but if they call I'd be ready tomorrow.... Keep up the PT - that makes all the difference!

  7. If you don't have a home for the cross cut quilt, I'll send you my address. I really like the baby quilt...bright and cheery! Your flip-flop post card is really cute. Do you duplicate all the card quilts you make to add to your journal? And Miss Selina, did you know that right before my knee surgery I ordered several (can't just have one)skeins of Red Heart Scrubbie yarn to make kitchen type scrubbies!!And also, some Jersey friends visited us the week before my surgery and brought me scrubbies she had crocheted!! Yes, great minds think alike!! Love to you and MJ and the girls!!
